Teaching experience

Organismal Biology
 
Description: Laboratory. Organismal Biology addresses the nature and process of organismal biology including experimental design, statistical methods, hypothesis testing in genetics, ecology, and evolution.


Responsibilities: Teach fundamental biostatistics, facilitate student scientific literacy and scientific writing, mentor student projects and posters. Supervise two undergraduate education assistants.
Marine Biology
 
Description: Recitation. Marine Biology addresses the analysis of marine and estuarine systems. Integration of biology, chemistry, and physics. Life histories of marine organisms. Biology of special marine habitats. Physiological problems of marine life.


Responsibilities: Facilitate student lead discussion, promote student scientific literacy and teach scientific writing.
Ecological Aspects of Animal Behavior
 
Description: Recitation.  Ecological Aspects of Animal Behavior addresses advanced topics in the ecology and evolution of animal behavior.
 
Responsibilities: Facilitate student lead discussion, promote student scientific literacy and teach scientific writing. Guest lecture multiple times per semester.
Honors Option Biology of Mammals
 
Description: Laboratory. Comparative morphology and natural history of mammals.
 
Responsibilities: Supervise, mentor students in research methods and independent research projects.

Posters
Biology of Mammals, Michigan State University

Description: Laboratory. Mammalogy addresses analysis of the behavior, ecology, evolution, and systematics of mammals.


Responsibilities: Demonstrate diversity of form and function, life history patterns, and identification. Supervise two undergraduate education assistants.
Cell and Molecular Biology,  Michigan State University

Description: Laboratory and Recitation. Cell and Molecular Biology covers macromolecular synthesis, energy metabolism, molecular aspects of development and molecular genetics.


Responsibilities: Instruct labs and recitation on partially prepared materials covering cell and molecular biology techniques and applications. Supervise two undergraduate education assistant.
Honors Option Comparative Anatomy and Biology of Vertebrates,Michigan State University


Description: Laboratory. Comparative morphology and natural history of vertebrates. Dissection of representatives of most vertebrate classes.


Responsibilities: Demonstrate dissections of additional vertebrate species, and further comparative morphology techniques. Supervise one undergraduate education assistant.
Environmental Science, Lansing Community College


Description: Lecture and laboratory.  Lecture survey of ecological and environmental ecology with emphasis on understanding how human actions impact the environment. Lab focused on applied analytical skills using, fieldwork, and simulations.


Responsibilities: Create course that addresses shared learning objective with other sections. Instructing lectures and laboratories.
Collection Practices, Oklahoma State University


Description: Intensive independent study in collection management and practices for undergraduates and graduate students.


Responsibilities: Supervise and mentor students in collection practices and independent research projects.
Field Techniques, Oklahoma State University


Description: Intensive independent study in field techniques and practices for undergraduate students.


Responsibilities: Supervise and mentor students in field techniques.
General Ecology, Oklahoma State University


Description: laboratory.  Field based quantitative laboratory covers physical and biotic environment, responses of organisms to the environment, behavioral and community ecology, natural ecosystems and man’s interaction with ecosystems.


Responsibilities: Instruct labs in lab, and in the field, teach quantitative methods and create course content.
