As a first-generation student, I had no idea how to navigate university life. I didn’t know what opportunities were available, or where to look for them. I didn’t know the potential that I had. I was fortunate to find good mentors. I am grateful for the time and energy they invested in my personal and professional growth. I have closely mentored 96 undergraduates as part of my research and supervisory duties. I’ve also done extensive peer mentorship of other graduate students and postdocs. I believe in pulling people up and helping them find their way.
